The 12th edition of the President Cup will once again take place in Třinec this year. Since its inception, the traditional August tournament has established itself as one of the strongest youth hockey tournaments in Central Europe, and this year it will once again welcome ten teams from six European countries.
Just like last year, fans can look forward to seeing the host team, Oceláři Třinec, joined by Sparta Prague, Energie Karlovy Vary, Mountfield Hradec Králové, and Vítkovice Ridera. International participants include Slovan Bratislava, Austria´s Red Bull Salzburg, Latvia´s Riga, Sweden´s Rögle and Switzerland´s Davos.
This year´s edition introduces one important change. Following the restructuring of youth hockey competitions in the Czech Republic, the President Cup will now be held for the U18 category, featuring players from the older junior age group.
Everything else remains the same. The tournament will once again begin with two groups of five teams. The group draw will take place during the official opening ceremony at WERK ARENA on Thursday, August 6.
The winners of each group will advance to Sunday´s championship game, while the runners-up will battle for the bronze medals. Teams finishing third, fourth, and fifth in their respective groups will compete in placement games to determine the final standings.
